The fall produce is really showing up this week, pumpkins at Giant, Meijer, and Food City, plus squash, apples, and sweet potatoes all over the flyers. It's a good week to lean into soups, roasts, and anything that goes in the oven low and slow, especially with some genuinely excellent meat prices popping up at a few stores. If you've been waiting for chicken thighs or a pork roast to dip low enough to stock the freezer, this is the week.

This Week's Best Deals

  • Lidl bone-in chicken thighs, family size, $0.99/lb. That's about as low as chicken gets. Buy a couple of packs, season them simply, and roast or grill them all at once, then use the extras through the week in sandwiches or salads.
  • Giant sweet potatoes, $0.99/lb. A fall staple at a fair price. Roast a big tray and use them across a few meals, as a side, mashed, or tossed into a lunch bowl.
  • ALDI Smithfield fresh pork butt roast, $1.99/lb (also at Kroger for $1.99/lb with card). Two stores, same great price. This is a slow cooker's best friend, get it going in the morning and you've got pulled pork for days.
  • Publix boneless skinless chicken breasts, BOGO. Buy one, get one free is hard to beat on a everyday protein. Grill a batch and portion it out for lunches.
  • Food City Honeycrisp apples, $1.69/lb. A solid price on a good baking and snacking apple, right in the middle of apple season.

Quick Breakfast & Lunch Ideas

Giant has grade A large white eggs at $1.79 each and Artesano bread at $2.99, which is a simple, reliable pairing for a fried egg sandwich any morning of the week. If you want something a little more special, Giant's deli also has Boar's Head maple glazed honey coat turkey breast at $13.49/lb, which makes a nice lunch sandwich on that same Artesano bread.

Over at Lidl, Hillandale Farms cage free eggs are $2.49 each, another easy option if that's your usual grocery stop, scrambled eggs with a slice of Milbona baby swiss ($1.99) is about as fast as breakfast gets.
