Honeycrisp Apples and Pork Shoulder Deals as Fall Settles In
September 11, 2026
Fall is clearly settling in on the shelves this week, with Honeycrisp apples showing up at five different stores and pork shoulder roasts priced low enough that it's practically an invitation to dust off the slow cooker. I also noticed a nice run on grapes and stone fruit before the season winds down, so if you've been waiting to stock the fruit bowl, this is a good week to do it.
This Week's Best Deals
- Whole Pork Shoulder Butt Roast, $1.79/lb at Meijer (bone in). This is the kind of price that makes a Sunday pot roast or pulled pork dinner nearly effortless on the wallet. Giant has a similar cut, Whole Pork Butt Roast, at $2.49/lb if Meijer isn't convenient.
- Fresh Pork Spareribs, $1.69/lb at Lidl. Low and slow in the oven, or finish them on the grill while the weather's still warm enough for it.
- Perdue Fresh Chicken Drumsticks, $0.89/lb at ALDI. That's about as low as chicken gets. Great for a big batch of baked drumsticks you can portion out for the week.
- Yellow Onions or Russet Potatoes, $1.00/lb at Giant. Onions and potatoes at a dollar a pound are the backbone of a dozen dinners, soups, roasts, hash, you name it.
- Honeycrisp Apples, $1.39/lb at Piggly Wiggly. This is the best price on Honeycrisp I saw anywhere this week (Giant, Kroger, Meijer, and Publix all have them too, but at higher prices), so if apples are on your list, this is where to get them.
Quick Breakfast & Lunch Ideas
Thomas' Bagels are $3.99 at Meijer, and Kraft Philadelphia Soft Cream Cheese is $3.49 there too, so that's an easy grab and go breakfast for the whole week. If you're near a Piggly Wiggly, their Toufayan Bagels at $2.89 paired with Kretschmar Off The Bone Ham or Turkey (both $5.99/lb, sliced fresh at the deli) make a fast breakfast sandwich or lunch.
For lunch without much fuss, Publix has their deli salads, Chicken Breast Salad, Tuna Salad, and Egg Salad, all at 2 for $9.00. Scoop one onto bread or crackers and you've got lunch handled for a couple of days without turning on the stove.
